"Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come."
This week I am reflecting on Esther.
"Now the young woman pleased him and she obtained favor..." (Esther 2:9)
Esther stood out among the other young women. She was clothed by the Most High with beauty that was not merely outward. She had a mission to fulfill and her adornment contributed to her finding favor.
As daughters of the Most High we are called to make ourselves beautiful by not only arranging out hair and putting on fine apparel. We are to pursue the incorruptible beauty of a quiet and gentle spirit (1 Peter 3:3-5).
Esther's beauty shines in her pursuit of God's will. In a position of great authority and influence Esther did not lack character. She did not allow her exaltation to change her submissive nature. Her uncle was still able to provide instruction and guidance that Esther heeded. It was this humility and willingness to obey that led to a mighty deliverance for the people of God.
