"A woman is not born a woman. Nor does she become one when she marries a man, bears a child and does their dirty linen, not even when she joins a women’s liberation movement. A woman becomes a woman when she becomes what God wants her to be." ~Learning to Be A Woman By: Kenneth G. Smith
This quote is really helpful. It places the emphasis of Biblical Womanhood and/or preparing for marriage where it should be. Our ultimate pursuit is becoming more like Christ. The fruit of the Spirit makes a woman of God very attractive to her Heavenly Father first and then everyone who witnesses or experiences that fruit in her. Love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Bearing this fruit is a lifelong pursuit. Of course we know the only time we walk in these ways are when we are walking in God's Holy Spirit. It is important for me to focus on becoming the woman God wants me to be. It takes a lot of pressure off and inspires me to pursue God through prayer and reading His Word.
My prayer is that women in the body of Christ find rest in His sacrifice. He has brought us to a place of peace and friendship with our Heavenly Father by the love He displayed when He took our place and gave His life as the ultimate sacrifice for our sin.
We are free to pursue godliness and holiness through the power of God's Spirit without fear of Him sentencing us to eternal damnation because Jesus paid. When we look at how He paid, the obedience He displayed and how glorious and attractive He is while He spent time on earth, we have something to imitate.
Take some time and focus on the truth of God's love for you and His desire for you to be like Him. Let your pursuit of Biblical Womanhood stem from that truth and become all that He desires for you.
